During the TV news weather report, there is a chime when they show the forecast for the week. Why is that?

    It’s to draw your attention to the actual forecast. Most people do other things while watching the news, like getting ready for the day or making dinner….
    So they chime to let you hear that the weatherperson is telling you the immediate forecast for now.
    If you pay attention to the whole forecast, they usually tell you what’s happening right now, what happened today. What will happen for the next week and what the weather will be like today or tomorrow morning… Chimes usually happen before the today or tomorrow morning because that’s usually what most people think is the most important thing to know.
