why is the weather taking down all the plants and flowers? its been quite cold lately, does anyone know why it effects them? i woke up this yesterday moring and i saw ice on cars and dead flowers…..what is going on? how does the cold weather affect them?

Water is one of the only (perhaps the only) substance that is less dense as a solid than it is as a liquid. That’s why ice floats. Now, as water freezes, the molecules become more orderly, spaced apart, structured…less dense. Fill up a container all the way with water, freeze it…you’ll notice the ice is above the original level. Now imagine instead of a container, it was a cell (plant cell, human tissue cell, etc.)…you get the picture?
